The Women's 2017 World Lacrosse Championships are going on as we speak. Many lacrosse fans probably have not heard much about it. The World Championship games are held once every four years and have 25 nations competing for a Gold Medal. The games are being played in England and this can provide a lot to the lacrosse world. As you know, lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the world right now but is still not getting the same media attention as some of the other major sports. With good lacrosse being played from around the world like this, is just helping the sport out.
In the Championships, Team USA has been killing it. They are 4-0 so far with one more game until the playoffs. Some other teams that are doing well in their pool also are Haudeosaunee, Israel and Japan. All four of those teams are undefeated and in first place in their division. The playoffs start July 18th and we will have a winning team by July 22nd.
Canada and the United States have been battling it out in the Championship game 8 of the last 10 meetings. The most recent winner was Canada, but the United States have taken the gold home 7 of the last 10 games.
It will be interesting to see who will take the crown this year, but we should be set for a good playoff picture either way. Give it a couple more years and lacrosse will be taking over the sports world.
