The MLL All Star Game took place on July 8th in Sacramento, California. This game was a high scoring affair featuring the best lacrosse players in the world all playing together on one stage. After back and forth action Team Stripes ended up beating Team Stars 21-20.
Marcus Holman from the Ohio Machine tore up the first half for Team Stars scoring 5 goals, giving them a 10-7 lead at halftime, but that wasn't good enough. The second half was back and forth action, ending in a tie which meant overtime! The extra frame didn't last long, as Myles Jones worked his way down the middle scoring the winning goal for Team Stripes just 1:20 into OT. This game winning goal gave Jones his 4th goal of the game and his 5th point, giving him the MVP Award of the game and a $10,000 check courtesy of New Balance.
Aside from Jones, some other standouts from the weekend were Will Manny from Team Stripes with 5 points (3g, 2a), Tyler Fiorito made 11 saves in the cage for Team Stripes, while Greg Gurenlian went 59% at the X for Team Stripes in his final All-Star Game.
This event didn't fail to entertain. The Stars showed up to play, and clearly so did the Stripes (pun intended). MLL is setting the stage to be a premier league for the upcoming years.
