After weeks of speculation, The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) was made official this past Monday Morning via press release. A league by the players for the fans....
Without playing a single game, The PLL has already accomplished something that the MLL and NLL could not; they struck a media rights deal with NBC. The 14 week traveling league will have 20 games available on NBC Sports Gold, a subscription based service. But the Premier Lacrosse league will also have 17 games aired on NBC Sports Network, and 2 games will even be aired on the main NBC syndicate!
But will the games be competitive and entertaining? No doubt in our minds. Some of the biggest names in Lacrosse have already committed to the Premier Lacrosse League! With 86 collegiate All-Americans, 25 members of the US National team, 10 former Tewaaraton award winners (Heisman of college lacrosse), and 9 former MLL MVP's, there is definitely no shortage of talent. The list of 140 eligible players will be split into 6 teams with the inaugural season set to kick off June 2019 with Championship weekend coming in late September.
