Last season a few particular players made some major noise in the lacrosse world, and all them are apart of the same family. The Thompson brothers, Miles and Lyle, and cousin Ty, blew up in the 2014 season become one of the most power attack units ever seen. Miles and Lyle are the first Native Americans to be awarded the Tewaaraton Trophy as well as being the first dual winners of college lacrosse’s most prestigious award.
Lyle Thompson is currently in his senior year at the University of Albany and is on track to surpassing his season points record he set last season. Everyone will be watching him as he becomes the main target of every opponent.
Miles Thompson graduated from Albany last year and has since been making a pretty big impact in the pro leagues so far. Drafted by the Rochester Rattlers of the MLL in the 3rd round (20th overall), Miles saw field time almost instantly. He tallied 19 points in only playing 9 games! Now playing in the NLL for the Minnesota Swarm Miles continues to make some noise. He has 21 points so far and doesn’t look like he is about to slow down.
The Thompson brothers are easily some of the most entertaining players to watch. The incredible athleticism and exciting dramatics have been some major factors to their success. They have helped grow the sport of lacrosse not only by making ESPN SC Top 10 Plays a handful of times but by also reminding people the roots of lacrosse. If it wasn’t for the Native American people we wouldn’t have this amazing sport that we all love and I think it’s important to remember that.
You can catch the Thompsons this season whether it’s at the College level or in the Pros, either way you know its going to be an exciting game. These guys never let the fans down.
